Showed the wrong cards?
Ahhh!!!  I am a little frustrated!  Team Fly V Australia presented by Successful Living Foundation worked their butts off today as they towed me around the 155km stage.  They were awesome….it was so windy – we were travelling at 85kmh in one direction and 20kmh in the other and the boys rode themselves into the ground once again to control the race for me….

There were many attacks as the other teams tried to find some weakness in our defense but there was none to be had.  On the final lap, and the final time up the climb, my guys were spent, and it was time for me to put my head in the wind which resulted in the race being together with less than 10km to go.  At this stage I was alone in front and a move of 4 guys went up the road….a dangerous move, but the teams with the best sprinters didn’t have someone there, so I played a card hoping that they would bring the move back.

Redlands Bicycle Classic Prologue - Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

I had in my mind to capitalize on the good form that I showed I had last weekend.  Cycling is one of those sports where you never really get too many opportunities and when you miss one, you have to take a moment to curse.  But today, I got it right!

The 5km prologue is a tricky one, the first 3km are a false flat, the last 2km are straight up a wall and I learnt last year that there is an art to riding this course correctly.  That, however, you ain’t gonna read here.  J

San Dimas GC win!

Team Fly V Australia presented by Successful Living Foundation earnt their first tour win yesterday at the San Dimas Stage Race.  The boys rode exceptionally defending my lead that I gained in the first day’s prologue time trial.  I felt great in the final criterium yesterday and we quickly went about securing me the first available time bonus to extend my slim 1 second lead in the General Classification.  Throughout the criterium, just like in the previous day’s road race, we were attacked and attacked and every time the team never let anyone have much of a leash.  It has been a great few days in the development of the team as a lot of the boys haven’t had a lot of experience defending a leader’s jersey before, but they showed their strength and had the peloton talking about them.  It’s nice to see the Team Fly V Australia formula starting to work.

San Dimas Prologue - the merits of hard work!

Argh, this is the second time I have written this – save your progress people, save your progress!  Like I mentioned to you all training has been going well.  After a somewhat difficult season last year with injury and a US peloton in financial turmoil, I have been quietly going about my work this year, training hard and working on my new business www.daybydaycyclecoaching.com.  The San Dimas Stage Race was an event that I went well at last year with a 3rd overall behind Cameron Evans and Oscar Sevilla.
