San Dimas Stage 2 - a killer road race

Today was a tough road race to control.  Trying to contain a carnivorous peloton with witches hats and a double yellow line always dictates that this race is a little sketchy to say the least.  Team Fly V Australia presented by Successful Living really stood up today and showed their strength.  The first 4 laps were done at warp speed, trying to contain a big break that we foolishly let get away.  Comments from the peloton were that there was no way that our boys could ride that tempo and still be there at the end.  But the boys kept coming back to me, time and time again after the sharp little climb on the course.  Unfortunately Phil Zajicek’s bad luck with crashes continued and I am very glad that it wasn’t worse….  And he was riding very well too.

CU Crit and win #4
My training has been progressing well since finishing the Tour of California. My standard line at the moment is, I needed California to be ready for California! Not really a line that impresses any girls at a bar, but I don’t do that stuff anyway.

The majority of guys who were featuring in California, with a few exceptions, had already raced the Tour Down Under or the Tour of Qatar. Something we, as a team will need to find a solution for next year..... My training has been progressing well since finishing the Tour of California. Not an entirely original, unique or exclusive entry...

I don't have something that is entirely original for you today. This is a recap of the racing that my other teammates did over the weekend....I promise to get unique again soon. Oh, by the way - TWITTER: benday78. And my new Cycle Coaching website - www.daybydaycyclecoaching.com Peace! Fly V Australia presented by Successful Living Foundation raced on two fronts over the past weekend. Michael "Grabbo" Grabinger raced solo in the "Valley of the Sun" tour down in Tucson, Arizona, a city that has only two seasons - hot, and hotter.

What happens in Vegas...

Isn’t it interesting that your perception of a place can be completely dictated by the people you know there? I have been to Las Vegas on three occasions to stay with my very good friends, Johnathan and Mai Linh. Immediately I was invited into their community of cyclists that live in Sin City. My perception of Vegas is not the strip, not the casinos and not the gentlemen’s clubs, but to good healthy living, lots of laughs and great enthusiasm for cycling and life.... Tour of California - Done and dusted!

Man, that was a tough week of racing! You could see in the peloton that there were a lot of guys suffering in the last few days of the tour. Even Lance Armstrong and Chris Horner were dropping back in the bunch on occasions due to how hard the Tour of California has been this year. The top of the leader board held steady though and yesterday’s final stage, whilst certainly tough, didn’t bring about any changes. 84 riders of the initial 136 starters made it to the conclusion in Escondido.
